Summer Slow Down Session
Restorative yoga, qigong and meditation
The Zen Den, Watergate Bay, Near Newquay
Bank hol Monday 31st August 2026 | 10am-12pm
£35 includes tea + cake
An invitation to nourish your nervous system as we come towards the end of Summer in a beautiful cliff-top yurt overlooking the ocean.
This session will have a theme of compassion and offering ourselves and others friendliness in this hectic world.
We will explore the the tender and fierce sides of compassion. Sometimes compassion is gentle and soft like giving a big hug to an upset child and telling them you are there, and compassion can also be fierce like a mumma bear protecting it's cub, it requires action, setting boundaries and saying no.
The movements and poses will be specifically themed to support the meridians (energy pathways) that are a focus in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in Late summer. So think gentle front body opening and inner leg stretches.
What's involved?
🌀 We will start with some gentle mindful movement based on qigong and soothing breath practices to ease out any restlessness and tension in the body and mind. Qigong is a gentle standing movement form which is almost dance-like and very meditative and soothing - it can also be done in a chair.
😌 Deliciously restful restorative poses. These are floor-based positions, where I will guide you to support your body with lots of lovely blankets, bolsters and blocks. The idea is to get the body as comfy as possible to allow the mind and nervous system to soften.
🧘 Whilst in our restorative poses I will bring in some compassion meditation to support us caring for ourselves and those around us.
🍰 We will end with tea and homemade vegan cake as always! Please let me know if you have any dietary requirements when you book :)
Who is this for?
All levels are welcome including total newbies to yoga and meditation. Also, these workshops are very very gentle so are potentially great for anyone who is pregnant, postnatal, recovering from illness/ injury or with limited mobility. If you aren't sure send me a message. 👍
