Autumn Restorative Yoga Workshop

Shiva Studio, Nansledan near Newquay

Sat 12th Oct 2024 | 1.30-4pm

£35 includes tea + delicious homemade vegan cake

At this time of year, nature is slowing down and letting go and our bodies often crave the same thing. This workshop is a chance to honour our need for rest and slowing down, even if the rest of our lives offer little space for this.

The workshop will be inspired by the wisdom of Seasonal Yoga, which draws upon Traditional Chinese Medicine's theory of the relationship between particular organs and each season. Autumn is connected with the lungs and large intestines, which means we will focus on stimulating and nourishing the energy pathways or 'meridians' relating to these organs. These run along the front of the arm to the collar bones and the outer edge of the arms so expect movement and postures that gently open and squeeze these areas.

The session will start with gentle mindful movement and releasing breathwork to reconnect us with our physical body and to create space in our mind to encourage a state of relaxation.

Then we will move into several restful restorative poses. These poses are all floor-based positions, where I will guide you to support your body with lots of lovely blankets, bolsters and blocks. The idea is to get the body as comfy as possible to allow the mind and nervous system to soften.

We will end with tea and homemade vegan cake as always! Please let me know if you have any dietary requirements :)

These workshops are a special opportunity for safely held rest and reflection on what will support our health and wellbeing during this season. â€‹

These workshops are very very gentle so are potentially great for anyone who is postnatal, recovering from illness/ injury or with limited mobility.
